A body detox involves

cleansing your body of toxins and waste. The human body is amazing. It has the ability to detoxify itself. It has several systems to do this. The excretory system plays a major role in the detoxification of urination and defecation. However, this isn’t the only system we have. There is also the liver, skin, kidneys and large intestine.

The Liver performs multiple critical functions to keep the body free of toxins and harmful substances. Some of the functions it performs include producing bile which helps carry away waste and break down fats during digestion. It produces certain proteins for blood plasma, which is important for blood clotting and other functions. It also detoxifies chemicals and metabolises drugs and any other foreign substances.

Functions of the body

One of the functions of our skin is part of the excretory system. It aids in the regulation of body temperature through the sweat gland system. When the sweat passes through your sweat glands, it takes toxins with it.

The kidney’s essential function is to remove waste products from the blood by filtering the blood. It balances the body fluids. It forms urine, regulation of red blood cells, acid regulation and blood pressure regulation. It also aids in other important functions of the body. Because of the vital functions, the kidneys perform and the toxins they encounter the kidneys are susceptible to various problems.

The lungs help remove carbon dioxide which is the gaseous waste produced by breathing.

The large intestine (also called the colon) takes about 16 hrs to finish the digestion of food. The function of the colon is to remove water and any other remaining nutrients and minerals from the food. It converts waste into stool before sending the indigestible matter to the rectum for excretion.

When we detox our body we are reducing the body dependency on substances like sugar, carbohydrates, caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol. We are removing the heavy metals from our system and we are left feeling lighter, energetic, more focused, we experience less pain in our body, we have increase flexibility, improved skin, better breathing, healthier hair, a stronger immune system and even weight loss. Finally, an overall improved sense of wellbeing.
